This museum was opened by Taro Maruyama in 1962. Taro Maruyama was artist of folkcrafts and run a folkcraft shop-ちきりや工芸店 in the downtown.
Maruyama met Sohetsu Yanagi, a famous folkcraft Movement reder. Maruyama promoted the Folk Crafts Movement in Matsumoto .
The museum is little far from station. But Ican enjoed traditional old Japanese house and the view of Japan Alps and beautiful farms.
