I went art gallery of shibuya hikarie department store in Tokyo yesterday. The exhibition by eight potter was held. I liked KAWABATA Kentaro's work. His work was also populer at that exhibition. The form of his pottery was like a shellfish. The decoration is very vitreous. It's very oliginal.
The most distinguishing characteristic of this style of overglaze enamel porcelain is its vivid and deep colors. And The drawing(especially old kutani) is also fascinating. TOKYO STATION GALLERY The Genealogy and Development of Kutani Ware August 1st , 2015 - September 6th , 2015

The animal and sea fish is important motif in Arita now as same as old imari. 鳩は、有田焼の源右衛門窯で人気の模様です。古伊万里でも現在の有田焼でも鳥や動物、魚は重要なモチーフです。 Also the bird or flower was also main motif at china in the medieval period. We often put real leaf on the dish to be looked dishes attractive (see below picture).
But on the leaf designed dish we don't need any leaf on the dish (see upward picture).
Leaf designed dishes are very convenient ! We don't need going garden to pick up leaf.
So leaf designed dishes are also popular in Japan.
I visited toguri-museum of art in Tokyo. It's porcelain museum in Tokyo. At that Imari ware(It made Mid 17th century in Japan) exhibition at toguri-museum, I found cute post card-Fish shaped dish imari ware. The post card old Imari ware is very similar to DANSK fish plate made in Denmark in my house!
I visited Kaki-emon Kiln in arita last holiday. At the Kaki-emon museum, We can see 13the, the 14th and the 15th, Kakiemon Sakaida. I prefer 13th than the 14th(ex-the head of the Kakiemon family).
Yesterday I read a book(現代陶芸家列伝) . At that book 13th said 14th(ex-the head of the Kakiemon family)"Paint white space!"
I prefer 13th because of white space of his porcelain is beautiful at the Kaki-emon museum in Arita.
Also You can see Kaki-emon porcelain within some period of time at toguri-museum
Gen-emon porcelains are popular around the world for its vivid colors(especially cobalt blue, green and yellow) on a milky-white appearance.
In the 17th century, porcelain known as Imari ware was exported from Japan to Europe. The 6th the head of the Kakiemon Kiln went to see old Imari to Europe.
